The influences in this shoot is very prominent. Main influences include Paolo Roversi and the Ice Queen from Narnia. There should be a sense of coldness and isolation. The title says it all, it should remind us of death and our mortality, despite the fact the model looks supernatural. There should be a balance of life and death in these photos, yes the whole setting looks celestial and mystical but the expressions of the model’s face is a reminder mortality. In today’s society everyone is afraid of death, it is never spoken of because it’s a bit depressing and morbid for our think - positive sensibilities. Our culture is devoted to to perpetuating the lie that you can stay young forever and your life will go on and on. Death should be embraced because it’s taking the next step to the cycle of life.
